TU Comes to You, East Asia with Junxia Rong

My recruitment trip in east Asia started with the Vietnam Education U.S.A. Fair in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi as Vietnamese students showed their great passion to study in the U.S. Our Vietnamese translator helped parents and students a lot during the fairs and the luncheon session with the U.S. Counselors allowed visa officers to get to know Tiffin University better.

The next stop was South China, including Guilin, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Taiwan and then the northern part of China with Beijing and tier III cities like Hangzhou, Ningbo, Dalian, Tianjin, Shenyang and Hefei. I met with prospective students and visited partners to further our plans. Education U.S.A. organized high school visits and meetings with high school counselors. Meetings with partnering universities were productive, and we made agreements on educational programs.

During my visits to China, alumni meetings are the always the highlight of my entire trip. I met with Ao Zheng and Wang Hou, class of 2018 in Beijing, and Ashton Khan, class of 2015 in Zhengzhou. Ao and Wang have spoken highly of Tiffin University to friends and families, and they’ll continue spreading the kind words about TU. Ashton, who’s from Canada, now coaches basketball in an international school in Bozhou, Auhui province. He introduced me to his school principal and we discussed some possible partnering opportunities. I also got connected with another alumnus, Ying Shi, who is making great progress in her career after getting her MBA, with a concentration of in sports management from TU. I’m very proud of our alumni’s achievements and also feel very grateful for their contributions.

The last stop was Ulan Bator, Mongolia. The stay in Ulan Bator was short but very productive. I attended the 26th Mongolia Education Exhibition over the weekend and visited high school and universities. The Education Exhibition was a great success as our table attracted many students who are interested in our affordable tuition and scholarships. High school visits gave me the opportunity to tell more high school students about Tiffin University. Some senior students showed great interest and signed up for more information.

Overall, it was an achieving recruitment trip. Most students in Vietnam, Taiwan and Mongolia are looking for affordable schools like us. New partner relationships were established and will need to be well maintained. We’re looking forward to welcoming more new dragons to join our big family!
