Meet Carlos Santana, Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

We sat and chatted with Carlos Santana, who is the Undergraduate Admissions Counselor and recruits for undecided students. As an admissions counselor, Carlos works with a variety of students, helping those individuals through the enrollment process until they are official TU students. Please enjoy our Q & A with Carlos Santana.

What is your background in your field?
Previously, I have worked for the International Admissions Office. In my role, I worked with international students, assisting them through the enrollment process, VISA interview and transition into America.

Why are you passionate about your field?
I have been in the shoes of these students. Being an individual who these students can turn to for help in their college search and career paths is something to be passionate about.

What areas or programs are you recruiting for?
I recruit the undecided population. My main goal is to help students commit to a major before their arrival. I am the home counselor therefore, I do not travel much, unless I am covering for another counselor.

What advice would you give a person who is thinking about coming to Tiffin University to pursue their degree?
Do not be afraid to come out of your shell. Join some clubs or some intramurals and get involved on campus. Work hard in your studies because that is the primary reason why you are here.

When talking with a perspective student, what is one TU fact that you make sure to share?
It depends on the student. If a student is looking at our forensic program, I mention that TU is ranked for having one of the best forensic programs. If it is a business student, I comment on how TU was founded as a business school and so forth.

What is TU’s biggest best kept secret?

If you were a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians and pick a song to walk onto the field to, what would it be?
I would choose “Hall of Fame” by The Script ft.

What’s your favorite TU memory?
After four years, my favorite TU memory was walking down the aisle to receive my diploma.
