Meet Taylor McClain, Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

We recently chatted with Taylor McClain who is the Undergraduate Admissions Counselor at Tiffin University and recruits for the School of Science – undecided, chemistry, exercise science, forensic science and mathematics. As an undergraduate admissions counselor, Taylor helps students from the start of their college search all the way up until the first day they are on campus for class! Please enjoy our Q & A with Taylor McClain.

What is your background in your field?
I do not have previous experience working in the admission field. However, last year I worked as a full-time substitute teacher at a local high school. This experience taught me to communicate with students in a way that they will listen and comprehend what I am saying. I also have my undergrad in communications, this has been so beneficial while working as an undergraduate admissions counselor.

Why are you passionate about your field?
I am passionate with this field because I love helping others. In this job, I can help students find the right school. Tiffin University is a great family to be a part of and I enjoy helping students become a part of it!

What advice would you give a person who is thinking about coming to Tiffin University to pursue their degree?
Tiffin not only provides opportunities to receive a degree, but Tiffin also provides opportunities to grow as an individual preparing for the future.

When talking with a perspective student, what is one TU fact that you make sure to share?
At TU, you are not only becoming a part of a university, but you are also becoming a part of a family.

What is TU’s biggest best kept secret?
Some of Tiffin’s best kept secrets are small town coffee shops. Yes, you can still find a Dunkin’ and Tim Hortons in Tiffin, but the coffee won’t compare to the small-town coffee shops we have in Tiffin. Make sure your check out Bailiwicks or Sabaidee coffee!

If you were a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians and pick a song to walk onto the field to, what would it be?
“Big Poppa” by The Notorious B.I.G.

What’s your favorite TU memory?
Some of my favorite memories simply come from spending time with friends on campus!
