Graduation Day Pointers for Guests

graduate standing with family

Greetings guests of our graduates,

We are excited and honored to welcome you to campus and to the annual Commencement ceremony. Your graduate has worked so hard and done so much during their time with Tiffin University and we are honored to be a part of their story.

Here are a few tips and tricks to ensure the best graduation day for everyone:

  • First and foremost, please remain throughout the ceremony to honor the graduates and this momentous occasion – Leaving early can be distracting to both the audience and the graduates. By staying through the entire ceremony, you show respect and honor your student’s dedication and hard work. Remember, the conferral of degrees is a key moment and a significant part of the celebration.
  • Keep a respectful atmosphere – We’re excited to celebrate our graduates and want each name to be heard clearly as it’s announced. To maintain the ceremony’s respectful tone, please avoid loud cheering, air horns or other disruptions. Don’t forget to silence alarms, phones and other devices to ensure the event proceeds smoothly for everyone.
  •  Arrive early at the Heminger Center – We recommend guests head straight to the Heminger Center, as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive, get settled and secure a seat to fully enjoy the ceremony. Arriving late may disrupt the event or cause you to miss important moments, so please plan accordingly.
  • Dress and be prepared – Graduation day can be busy, so dress appropriately for the weather to stay comfortable while celebrating your student’s achievements. The Heminger Center may get warm, so consider bringing a small, handheld fan to help stay cool throughout the event.
  • Last-Minute Gifts – Starting at 12:30 p.m., flowers, graduation t-shirts with student names, and teddy bears will be available for purchase inside the Heminger Center. These make perfect last-minute gifts for your graduate.
  • Accommodations & Restaurants – The City of Tiffin may be a little busy the day of graduation. Plan ahead and check out our website and the list of accommodations and restaurants we’ve already compiled for you!

parking information

Parking will be available in various locations throughout campus and there will be personnel available to direct vehicles to parking lots with open space. There will also be golf carts/shuttles running throughout the day from multiple locations to transport people from one location to another.

To truly stand out, we must not feel compelled to fit in.
