Tiffin University has been awarded $544,000 in Choose Ohio First funding for fiscal year 2027 through the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
Choose Ohio First is a state-funded scholarship and workforce development initiative that recruits, retains and supports students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at Ohio’s public and independent colleges and Universities. The program is designed to strengthen Ohio’s talent pipeline by increasing the number of graduates prepared for high-demand careers in science, technology and innovation-driven industries.
The award will support Tiffin University student scholarships and academic initiatives designed to expand access and success in STEM programs. The grant will also advance student achievement, hands-on learning experience and career readiness in these disciplines.
“We appreciate Tiffin University being one of our Choose Ohio First partners,” said Mike Duffey, Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. “This latest award will give Tiffin students a jump on their future STEM success.”
“The Choose Ohio First award represents a meaningful investment in our students by helping to offset tuition costs while expanding access to high-demand STEM programs,” said Dr. Michelle Maus, Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment at Tiffin University. “This funding reduces financial barriers and creates opportunities for students to engage in work-based learning that prepares them for success in the workforce.”
“We are honored to be awarded Choose Ohio First funding,” said Dr. Peter J. Holbrook, Provost and Chief Operating Officer of Tiffin University.
“This program plays an important role in strengthening Ohio’s STEM talent pipeline, and Tiffin University is proud to contribute through strong academic preparation in STEM fields. It reinforces our commitment to ensuring students develop the knowledge and capabilities needed to enter high-demand careers and support innovation-driven industries across the state.”
