In fostering Tiffin University’s commitment to providing a campus community in which education, working, and living reflect a safe environment free from sex-based discrimination and/or sexual harassment/misconduct, the Center for Compliance, Accessibility, Resources, and Education (CARE) takes a proactive approach to preventing sexual harassment & other sex-based misconduct.

Each academic year, the Center for Compliance, Accessibility, Resources, and Education (CARE) creates and implements a Comprehensive Prevention Plan based on best practices outlined in the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s (ODHE) Changing Campus Culture initiative. In accordance with this initiative, the Comprehensive Prevention Plan incorporates the following ODHE recommendations:

  • Use data to guide action
  • Empower staff, faculty, campus law enforcement and students to prevent and respond to sexual violence through evidence-based training
  • Communicate a culture of shared respect and responsibility
  • Develop a comprehensive response policy
  • Adopt a survivor-centered response

Tiffin University holds standing-up and looking out for one another’s safety as a core value. One way in which TU commits to this value is by providing students, faculty, and staff with virtual bystander training. We want all members of our TU Family to have the knowledge and skills to be an active bystander, who interferes when anyone is observed being endangered by sexual harassment or other harmful behaviors on the basis of a protected class.

To help ensure the safety and well-being of all members and visitors to our campus community, The Office for Title IX & Civil Rights offers an annual training on Protection of Minors.

This annual training covers important information that individuals should review if they are participating in programs or activities involving minors that 1) the university operates; or 2) that others operate in university facilities.

At Tiffin University we offer Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training to help empower students to take an active role in preventing power-based personal violence, including sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. This program provides practical tools and strategies to safely intervene in situations where harm may occur, emphasizing that small choices can make a big impact. Through engaging scenarios and skill-building activities, participants learn how to recognize warning signs and take action in ways that fit their comfort level. Green Dot reinforces the idea that everyone has a part to play in creating a safer campus community. By building a culture of shared responsibility, the training helps foster respect, accountability, and care for one another.
