Academic Advising
Mission Statement and Goals
The mission of the academic advising program at Tiffin University is to provide student-centered, developmental advising to prepare traditional college-age students and adult learners for successful careers and for productive and satisfying lives of excellence, leadership and service.
What Does Academic Advising Look Like at TU?
The Academic Advisors serve as one of the primary resources for new and continuing students, assisting them not only with course scheduling, curriculum and career planning, but also with the development of life and academic skills for success in and out of the classroom. All students will meet with their Academic Advisor each semester to map out future courses that align with their graduation guide. During advising meetings, students will also be matched with support services needed to facilitate the attainment of their established educational and professional goals.
Academic Advisors can assist their advisees with the following:
- A main point of contact in resolving questions and concerns
- Curriculum planning and course registration
- Career and major exploration in pursuit of academic and professional goals
- Changing major, adding minor, and dropping/adding classes
- Meeting important academic deadlines and tasks
- Opportunities for engagement on campus and within the community
