Dr. Lillian Schumacher

Dr. Lillian Schumacher is President of Tiffin University and a leader focused on aligning strategy, innovation, and outcomes in a rapidly changing world.

Since being named the University’s sixth president and first woman to hold the role, she has led Tiffin through a period of significant transformation, positioning the institution for long-term sustainability, growth, and impact.

Her leadership is grounded in a clear conviction: the greatest threat facing higher education is not declining enrollment, but declining nerve. That belief shapes how she leads, prioritizing clarity, disciplined decision-making, and growth tied directly to student outcomes.

Leadership and Institutional Transformation

Under Dr. Schumacher’s leadership, Tiffin University has focused on disciplined growth tied to student outcomes and workforce relevance.

She has strengthened institutional strategy, aligned financial decision-making with student success, and expanded programs and partnerships that prepare students for meaningful careers. Her approach emphasizes clarity, accountability, and measurable impact.

During her tenure, the University has launched new academic programs, expanded facilities, and advanced initiatives that position Tiffin as a model for innovation among private institutions.

Experience and Background

With more than 38 years of experience across higher education and corporate environments, Dr. Schumacher brings expertise in strategic leadership, organizational growth, and program development.

She joined Tiffin University in 2010, serving as Dean of the School of Business and later as Vice President for Academic Affairs before being named President in 2016.

Dr. Schumacher holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies and master’s degrees in Higher Education Administration and Organization Development from Bowling Green State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in economics from Allegheny College.
