AUGUST 23-24, 2025
Welcome Weekend 2025
Get Ready for Welcome Weekend!
Welcome Weekend is a two-day event full of exciting activities for new and returning students to help kick-off the year. For new first-year and transfer students, the weekend serves as an introduction to virtually everything TU has to offer and the adjustment to college expectations. For returning students, it is an opportunity to readjust and reacquaint before the start of another semester. Welcome Weekend provides all students a chance to connect with faculty, staff and other students so they can begin the academic year with their best foot forward!
Day 1: Saturday, August 23
On move-in day:
- You’ll have 20 minutes to unload your car, with TU faculty and staff ready to lend a hand.
- One person needs to stay in the car at all times while things are being moved out of the car.
- Items will be placed on the sidewalk right away so the line can keep moving.
- Vehicles must be fully unloaded before anything is moved into the building.
- Once empty, please move your vehicle to designated parking and take the TU shuttle back to campus.
- Overflow parking will be at old Big Lots in Tiffin 644 W. Market St.
- Campus Drop-Off/Pick-Up will be in front of the Murphy at the side street parking area. This will only be in place until the road closure begins at 2:00 p.m.
- After Miami Street reopens at 3:00 p.m., the shuttles will no longer stop at the Murphy. They will instead drop off and pick up in front of the Heminger Center until 4:30 p.m.
- Note: Shuttle service only runs until 4:30, so be sure to pick up your vehicle before service concludes.
- Time slots matter: Please arrive at your assigned time. Early arrivals will be asked to wait until their slot, and late arrivals will need to wait until the end of the move-in period.
Following these steps helps keep traffic flowing and ensures a smooth, stress-free start for everyone. After unloading, you’ll have plenty of time to settle in before brunch/lunch or our first required event.

Road Closure on State Route 18
Beginning Wednesday, August 7, there will be a complete road closure on State Route 18, just east of Tiffin, between S. Harley St. and S. Township Road 159. The closure is scheduled to last for 21 days, affecting travel during Welcome Weekend and the first week of classes.
The ODOT-approved detour is designed for truck and commercial traffic and directs motorists to take SR 19 north to SR 101 south to get back to town. Please be aware that some GPS systems may suggest alternate routes better suited for passenger vehicles.
Heads up for Welcome Weekend in Tiffin!
Tiffin will be buzzing with activity, including a downtown farmer’s market, a car show near campus and some nearby construction. To ensure a smooth trip, we recommend adding an extra 30 minutes to your commute and entering town from the west side.
While you’re here, why not make the most of it? Check out one of the exciting events happening around town and soak in the vibrant college town atmosphere.
